Add-ons and Options
Add-ons let guests customize an item when they order it. A pizza can offer extra toppings, a coffee can come in three sizes, and a curry can ask for a spice level. Each choice can add to the price or be free.
Groups and Options
Add-ons are organized in two levels:
- Group: one question for the guest, for example
SizeorExtra toppings. A group sets the rules: whether an answer is required, and how many options the guest can pick. - Option: one answer inside a group, for example
LargeorOlives, with a price that is added to the item price. Use a price of 0 for a free option.
An item can have up to 10 groups, and a group up to 10 options.
Open the Add-ons Page
- Open Menu under Menu Setup in the sidebar.
- Find the item, open the three-dot menu at the end of its row, and select Add-ons.
The page lists every group on the item with its options and prices.
Add a Group
- Select Add group.
- Enter the Group Name the guest will see, such as
Size. - Decide the rules:
- Required: turn it on when the guest must pick something, for example a size.
- Minimum Selections: the fewest options a guest must pick. Use 0 to let guests skip the group.
- Maximum Selections: the most a guest can pick. Set it to 1 for a single choice. Leave it empty for no limit.
- Sort Order: lower numbers appear first when guests customize the item.
- Under Options, enter a Name and Price for each option. Select Add option for more. Untick Available to hide an option for now without deleting it.
- Select Save.
Edit a Group
Open the three-dot menu on the group and select Edit. You can rename the group, change the rules, add or remove options, and change prices. Select Save.
Price changes apply to new orders only. Orders already placed keep the prices they were placed at.
Run Out of an Option
Edit the group and untick Available on the option. Guests no longer see it, and the group still works with the remaining options. Tick it again when you restock. Check that a required group still has at least one available option.
Delete a Group
Open the three-dot menu on the group and select Delete, then confirm. Guests stop seeing the group at once. Past orders keep the option names and prices they recorded.
What Guests See
An item with add-ons shows a customize window when a guest adds it. The window lists each group with its rules, such as Required and Pick up to 3, and updates the price as options are ticked. Guests cannot add the item until every required group has a choice. Staff see the same window as a Customize button when they place an order in a live session. See What Guests See and Live Sessions.
